At the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center every donation via Monterey County Gives! becomes a direct lifeline for those affected by sexual violence. Year-round our dedicated Crisis Intervention Team provides immediate, compassionate, and essential support to survivors in our community. Whether it be supporting survivors of sexual violence at forensic exams or supporting a family of a child who has disclosed abuse at a forensic interview, the Crisis Intervention team is ready to respond. To help lessen the feelings of confusion with the system of justice or the path to healing, the Crisis Intervention team provides trauma-informed care to survivors who walk through the doors at the Children’s Advocacy Center located at Natividad hospital. Over the years, MCRCC has learned that simple gestures, such as offering snacks, clean clothes, or a comforting plushie to hold tightly, can significantly alleviate the anxiety that often accompanies difficult moments our survivors go through. These small acts create grounding moments, fostering a connection between our advocates and survivors. 

The donations we receive from our community via MC Gives! allows the Crisis Intervention team to provide the services survivors need. We are able to continue providing emotional support, advocacy, and also sustain our 24 hour bilingual helpline. Additionally, it allows us to foster a safe space for children, adults and significant others to receive the services they seek so they can begin their healing journey after experiencing trauma.
